📃 Event description: "A self-revolving sound film of the ghetto" – this is how Rachela Auerbach described the landscape of the ghetto streets: Polish and Yiddish, beggars' songs, cries, cries, reciting poetry, street musicians. At the same time, sophisticated musical pieces resounded in the ghetto's venues, symphony orchestra concerts were held, and songs were sung to soothe the pain of the soul and longing. Music that survived the Holocaust was also composed behind the ghetto walls. During this walk in the footsteps of music in the Warsaw Ghetto, we will talk about this complex phenomenon: about the artists who found themselves in the ghetto, the places where they performed, and the traces of those histories preserved in the topography of today's Warsaw.
The beginning of the walk: 3/5 Tłomackie Street, next to the building of the Jewish Historical Institute, the end of the walk: 122 Chmielna Street – the tenement house where Artur and Henryk Gold lived before the ghetto period.

📃 Event description: The walk will follow the footsteps of people connected to the Warsaw Ghetto. Our heroes will be doctors, scientists, artists, social activists, and political activists.
and fighters of the Warsaw Ghetto. We will stop at the graves of, among others, the chairman of the Warsaw Judenrat, Adam Czerniakow; entomologist Dr. Szymon Tenenbaum; and Rabbi Yitzhak Meir Kanał. The stories we will hear will become a starting point for a conversation about the tragic everyday lives and heroic choices made by the Jews confined to the Warsaw Ghetto.

📅 August 27.08, 17:00 PM - Visit to the archaeological site and the "Miła 18" outdoor exhibition
📃 Event Description: In June 2022, at the intersection of Miła and Dubois Streets, the Warsaw Ghetto Museum began archaeological excavations. The basements of 19th-century tenement houses were uncovered, which during the Ghetto Uprising were most likely part of a bomb shelter known as the Anielewicz Bunker. Approximately three thousand artifacts were found during the excavations, including everyday objects and religious items (e.g., tefillin and Shabbat candlesticks). Magdalena Kruszewska-Polak, head of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum's collections department, will present the archaeological site and discuss the research and discoveries conducted there. In addition to the archaeological site, our latest outdoor exhibition, "Miła 18: The State of Things," will be open to visitors.

📃 Event description: Ewa Heller, now an 86-year-old psychoanalyst from Sweden, survived the Warsaw Ghetto. Her grandmother, Jewish doctor Anna Braude-Hellerowa, director of a children's hospital in Warsaw, refused to leave the ghetto and perished during the 1943 uprising along with the facility's patients. Ewa, her parents, and her other grandmother, Anna Natanblut, survived the war on the so-called Aryan side. In 1945, Ewa and her grandmother, who managed a Jewish children's home, moved to Piotrolesie, now Pieszyce, where they spent two years. In the spring of 1946, Ewa and her parents left for Sweden. Later, they were joined by her grandmother, who abandoned her profession and began caring for the entire family. After many years, Ewa returned to Warsaw to find the answer to the question: why did her other grandmother, Anna Braude-Heller, choose death over life? Why did she not want to join her family?

📅 August 29.08, 10:00 AM – Walk along Miła Street
📃 Event description: "Mud, damp, stuffy, tuberculosis." These are the words that poet Władysław Broniewski used to describe Miła Street shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Miła was one of the most neglected streets in pre-war Warsaw. It suffered during the siege of the city in 1939 and later found itself within the ghetto. We invite you on a walking tour during which we will learn about the daily worries of the people who once lived here. Thanks to archival photos, we will discover details of its former appearance. We will also visit the archaeological site located next to the headquarters of the Jewish Combat Organization at the former address of Miła 18. We will discuss the extent to which archaeologists' work expands our knowledge of the events that unfolded here during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
