"They were lying in rags next to a bowl where people were supposed to put some pennies, but they didn't put anything in," recalls Wacław Izaak Kornblum (born 1926), author of the book "Memories. My Version." The fourth film in the "Message" series, titled " Children Died on the Street, " focuses on the most tragic aspects of life in the Warsaw Ghetto: pervasive poverty, hunger, and the typhus pandemic. Also speaking:
- Barbara Marlow (born 1931) – Survivor who participated in the Warsaw Uprising as a scout;
- Survivor Marian Kalwary (born 1930);
- She survived Larissa Cain née Sztorchan (born 1932).
The fourth part of the film series entitled "The Message" – Children Dying on the Street – was created from material recorded as part of the MGW Education Department's project "The Home Army and the Tragedy of Polish Jews," part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage's "Independent" program. From the interviews recorded at the time, we selected excerpts concerning the creation and functioning of the Warsaw Ghetto – from its establishment to its tragic end, as well as statements about pre-war Jewish-Polish Warsaw.
The message is the main idea contained in someone's statement – each of us can find it in a different fragment of the memories presented.
