On the last Sunday of October, the Education Department organized another off-site seminar for teachers, educators, and guides entitled "German Labor Camp for Jews in Starachowice."
The same date marks the 82nd anniversary of the liquidation of the Starachowice-Wierzbnik ghetto. To mark the occasion, the Museum delegation laid a wreath at the plaque commemorating this tragic event.
Dr. Sebastian Piątkowski and Paweł Kołodziejski, director of the Museum of Nature and Technology in Starachowice, guided the participants through the sites of the former labor camp and places related to the history of the Jews of Starachowice-Wierzbnik.
The perfectly preserved Jewish cemetery in Starachowice made a great impression on the participants.
On the way back, participants stopped at the Marcule Forest District, where they heard stories about the fate of Jews hiding in the Starachowice forests. The program concluded with a walk "In the Footsteps of the Jews in Iłża" and a visit to the Bolesław Leśmian Memorial Room.
