Varsavianist Walk | “Pociejów, Tłomackie and its surroundings – the lost heart of the former Northern District”

The Warsaw Ghetto Museum invites you to the second Varsavianist Walk in 2022, which will take place on February 20 – “Pociejów, Tłomackie and its surroundings – the lost heart of the former Northern District”!

The history of the former Pociejów will be recalled – the first shopping center of Jewish Warsaw, the synagogue in Daniłowiczowska, Simons’s Passage – the great “department store” of the Jewish quarter, Rymarska Street with the famous during the ghetto “Melody Palace” and finally the origin, history and significance of the non-existent Tłomackie Square (together with the history of the non-existent Great Synagogue and the surviving building of the former Central Judaic Library).

We invite you to the second Varsavianist walk this year – “Pociejów, Tłomackie and surroundings – the lost heart of the former Northern District”, which will take place on Sunday, February 20. Gathering at 12:00 at the Teatralny Square, in front of the Church of St. Andrew. The route of the walk will go through Teatralny Square, Bielańska, Daniłowiczowska and Długa Streets, Solidarności Av. and Bankowy Square. It will be led by art historian and research specialist of WGM, Dr. Paweł Freus. Participation in the event is free of charge.
