The Warsaw Ghetto History | Educational Documentary

We are happy to present you the educational documentary prepared by WGM and the FixaFilm studio. The film is available in Polish, English and Ukrainian language versions.

On April 19th, 2023, we commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising – the first city uprising in the Nazi-occupied Europe and the largest armed act of Jewish resistance during WWII.

Commemorating the Jewish citizens of Warsaw, their lives, their fight and tragic fate, is the key element of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum’s mission. Now, when there are fewer and fewer participants and witnesses of these events left alive, it is especially important to pass the knowledge about the Warsaw Ghetto history, its functioning and its tragic end to the next generations.

In order to make it easier for teachers and educators who are interested in teaching classes about the Warsaw Ghetto History, the FixaFilm Studio has prepared, specially for WGM, a short documentary which tells the story of the largest ghetto in occupied Europe in an accessible way. Numerous archive photographs and recordings (e.g. from the United States Holocaust Memorial Archive or Yad Vashem archive), as well as text fragments and the Survivor’s Barbara Marlow’s testimony, were used in the film. The visual techniques used, such as graphic animation and colorization of archival recordings, make the documentary interesting for young people.
