The 74th Anniversary of the end of World War II
On occasion of the end of World War II, Albert Stankowski, Director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Delegations of local and local government authorities appeared at the monument, among them were Jan Józef Kasprzyk, Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression and Ariel Zaretsky from the Jewish Community of Warsaw. During the war which lasted six years approx. 50 – 78 million people perished. It ended with the signing in Reims on May 7th, 1945 of the unconditional Surrender of the Third Reich, with effect as of May 8th, 1945.
