March of Remembrance 2020
On 22 July, as every year, the March of Remembrance will run through the streets of Warsaw. However, it will be completely different than in previous years. The WGM is a partner of this event
21 July 2020
This year, due to the epidemic, the March of Remembrance will last not one day, but much longer. The organizer of the March, the Jewish Historical Institute, invites you to individually pass the route with printed maps prepared by the JHI. The maps will be available at the reception of the JHI, in the seat of the Jewish Community of Warsaw and at the JCC.
Setting off, as every year, in front of the Umschlagplatz monument (10 Stawki Street), we will reach 20 Chłodna Street, the “Under the Clock” House where Adam Czerniaków, the president of the Judenrat of the Warsaw ghetto and the patron of this year’s March lived until his death. Together with the maps, the Jewish Historical Institute will distribute the Ribbons of Remembrance. At Chłodna Street, a special artistic installation will be created where the participants will be able to put on the Ribbons with the names of murdered Warsaw Jews. There, at the end of the March, you will receive a brochure with a selection from “The Warsaw Diary of Adam Czerniakow”.
The March of Remembrance will last from 22 July to 21 September. These dates refer to the time of liquidation action in the Warsaw ghetto.
