Małgorzata Mirga-Tas exhibition in Norway
“An Alternative Story” by Małgorzata Mirga-Tas
28.06 – 02.11.2025
Prisma Galleries, Norway
On 28 June, the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Høvikodden, Norway, opened the exhibition ‘Alternative History’, which features one of the works from the MGW collection – ‘May’ by Małgorzata Mirga-Tas.
Małgorzata Mirga-Tas (born 1978) creates art from a feminist standpoint, challenging stereotypical and marginalizing depictions of Roma people—especially Roma women—in European cultural and artistic traditions. Her textile pieces delve into themes of identity and community, offering a vibrant and richly textured visual experience. She gathers fabrics from relatives and friends and, using everyday items like tablecloths, curtains, bedding, and clothing, crafts evocative works in collaboration with women from her community. Her art features both legendary figures and everyday heroines, while also confronting the historical injustices faced by the Roma people.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Kunstmuseum Luzern, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg.
