Fifth meeting of the WGM Board of Trustees
On Monday, January 31, 2022, the fifth meeting of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum Board of Trustees was held.
Museum Director Albert Stankowski introduced new members of the institution’s staff – Professor Michael Berenbaum, an American historian, co-founder of the Holocaust Museum Project in the United States and former director of the USHMM Institute for Holocaust Research, and Dr. Katarzyna Nowakowska-Sito, head of the Museum’s Exhibitions Department, former curator of contemporary art collections at the National Museum in Warsaw and co-founder of the POLIN Museum.
Council members listened to the report on the Museum’s activities in 2021 and familiarized themselves with the action plans for 2022 presented by the Deputy Director for Scientific and Exhibition Affairs, Dr. Hanna Węgrzynek. The report and the financial plan of the institution were also discussed with the participation of the Chief Accountant Kamila Żelazowska. The Board gave a positive opinion on the presented reports and plans. Joanna Dudelewicz, Deputy Director for Economic, Investment and Organizational Affairs, presented the architectural concept for the future seat of the Museum – the former Bersohn and Bauman Children’s Hospital.
Due to stricter regulations related to the epidemic threat, the meeting was held through an internet platform.
As of September 2019, the Council of the Museum of the Warsaw Ghetto is composed of: Colette Avital (Chair of the Board), Barbara Jolson-Blumenthal, Bishop Dr. Mieczysław Cisło, Abraham Foxman, Artur Hoffman, Wacław Kornblum, Irene Kronhill Pletka, Dr. Jan Kutnik, Małgorzata Naimska (Vice Chair of the Board), Gideon Nissenbaum, Jarosław Sellin, Rabbi Michael Schudrich, Anna Stupnicka-Bando, Adam Struzik, Marian Turski. Marcin Bartosiewicz is the Secretary of the Council.
