Dr hab. Katarzyna Person is the new director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum
On February 28th, Hanna Wróblewska, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, appointed Dr. Katarzyna Person as the director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum. Her five-year term will begin on March 3rd this year.
Dr. Katarzyna Person’s nomination is the result of her impressive achievements and academic accomplishments to date, which include research on the history of Jews in Poland and those who emigrated from the country. Her authority, knowledge and experience will be invaluable in the further development of the museum, which under her leadership will continue its educational, exhibition and research mission, keeping alive the memory of one of the darkest chapters in history.
Appointment was presented Maciej Wróbel, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Dr Katarzyna Person-Wooddin holds a degree in journalism and social communication from the University of Warsaw. In 2010, she obtained a doctorate in history from the University of London, and in 2020, a postdoctoral degree from the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History at the Polish Academy of Sciences. She is a scholarship holder of the Humboldt Foundation (2016-2017, Institut für Zeitgeschichte), the Horizon Europe Programme (2020-2022, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) and the Gerda Henkel Foundation (2022-2023, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität), as well as the author of books, including ‘Assimilated Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, 1940-1943’ (2014), ‘Policjanci: wizerunek Żydowskiej Służby Porządkowej w getcie warszawskim’ (2018), ‘Dipisi: Polish Jews in the American and British Occupation Zones of Germany, 1945-1948’ (2019) and ‘Industrial Concentration Camp: the Camp, the Children, the Trials’ (2023).
