Cooperation with the Anne Frank House
We are pleased to announce that on 8 April 2026, the Director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, Dr hab. Katarzyna Person, and the Director of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Ronald Leopold, signed a cooperation agreement.
Our institutions will jointly develop content for educational programmes, share expertise in working on exhibitions in historic spaces, and address issues related to the use of new technologies in museums dedicated to the Holocaust. This newly established partnership reflects our shared commitment to preserving memory and expanding access to reliable knowledge through educational, digital, and cultural projects.
The Anne Frank House is one of the most important memorial sites dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust. It is located in the building on Prinsengracht where, during the Second World War, Anne Frank and her family went into hiding. It was there that her famous diary was written. The diary became one of the most moving testimonies of life in concealment. Today, the museum plays a vital educational role, presenting the story of Anne Frank, the realities of life in hiding, as well as the consequences of discrimination and persecution. It is also an important centre for reflection on human rights, tolerance, and the significance of historical memory.
The project is made possible thanks to funding from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEniKS) programme: “Renovation and expansion of the historic buildings of the former Bersohn and Bauman Children’s Hospital at 60 Sienna Street / 51 Śliska Street in Warsaw, together with their adaptation for exhibition and educational purposes, and the development of a Media Library as part of the permanent exhibition of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum.” The amount of co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund is PLN 57,423,828.88. The total value of the project is PLN 323,879,688.83.
