A walking tour in the area of the ‘Small Ghetto’

The Warsaw Ghetto Museum invites you for a walking tour in the area of the so-called ‘Small Ghetto’.

When: 8 September (Sunday), 12:00
Meeting point: 51 Śliska St., at the Bersohn and Bauman Hospital
Duration: 2 hours

During the walk we will visit selected sights in the area of the so-called Small Ghetto – the southern part of the former ghetto in Warsaw which was excluded from the ghetto area in the summer of 1942 and where traces of Jewish life (from the ghetto period and before) can still be found. We will talk about pre-war Jewish life in Warsaw and how it changed during the ghetto period.

The walk will begin at the former Bersohn and Bauman Hospital’s building (currently undergoing reconstruction) – the future location of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum.

From there we will proceed to places where remnants of ghetto walls and pre-war tenement houses can be found, and thus we will visit 62 Złota St., and walk along Prosta, Waliców, Ceglana, Grzybowska, Żelazna, Krochmalna and Chłodna streets. We will also go to Próżna St. and Grzybowski Sq, and have a look at the Nożyk Synagogue on Twarda St.

The tour will end by Świętokrzyska Underground Station.

The tour will be guided by Katarzyna Jankowiak, an educator in the Warsaw Ghetto
