On March 27, MGW educators – Dr. Halina Postek, Dr. Wiesława Młynarczyk, and Masza Makarowa – met with Warsaw teachers, educators, and guides to talk about projects and educational materials created in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The meeting began with a screening of the educational film "History of the Warsaw Ghetto," which provides an accessible account of the creation, history, and destruction of the largest ghetto in Nazi-occupied Europe. Volha Bandarenka and Piotr Jędruszczak , representatives of the FixaFilm studio, presented the film.
The film uses archival footage (including from the United States Holocaust Memorial Archive and Yad Vashem), excerpts from literary texts, and an interview with survivor Barbara Marlow . The material was produced by FixaFilm studio based on a script by Dr. Wiesława Młynarczyk from the Education Department of the MGW. The film is available in three language versions: Polish, English, and Ukrainian.
Another topic of the presentation was a mobile, field-based educational game about the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which allows participants to delve into the history of places connected to the uprising, take on the role of helping insurgents, and view objects discovered during excavations near the so-called Anielewicz Bunker. A key element of the app is an audio guide to the so-called Small Ghetto, containing 224 stories related to 56 locations within it.
