A year at the MGW construction site

The year 2025 was not only the next stage of the renovation and adaptation of the historic complex of the former Bersohn and Bauman Hospital, but also a time when two new facilities were built from scratch: an office building and a technical building. We're not slowing down – our museum's opening is planned for September 2027. What specific achievements did we manage to achieve last year?

Beginning of the year – continuation of work on underground facilities and construction works on the new buildings of the museum complex.

Spring and summer – intensive reinforced concrete works and implementation of subsequent construction stages of new buildings and underground volumes; in parallel, installation works began in the facilities under construction.

Permanent exhibition – assembly of selected scenography elements, including a freight wagon, commenced on level -2. A number of workshop documentations were developed, and material samples of exhibition elements and scenography were verified.

Autumn – construction work on the administrative and educational buildings, including the completion of the roof of the administrative building; installation and finishing work on the interiors was carried out in parallel.

End of the year – mild weather until mid-December allowed for the continuation of conservation work on the facades of the historic buildings of the former Bersohn and Bauman Hospital and the installation of cladding for new above-ground volumes in the form of GRC slabs.

The first windows and doors were installed on the building. Roof trusses were installed on the historic buildings, allowing for further roofing to protect them from the approaching winter. Simultaneously, interior finishing and installation work was underway, preparing the spaces for the next stages of construction.
