About Jews – Warsaw doctors, Polish Army officers, murdered in Katyn
It was Józef Mackiewicz who first drew attention to the numerous Jewish names among Polish Army officers identified during the exhumation in the Katyn Forest in the spring of 1943. The eminent Polish writer, author of the reportage "Ponary Baza," which Hanna Krall wrote was the best she had ever read about the Holocaust, found himself at the site of this communist crime that very spring, at the German suggestion, but with the consent of the Polish Underground State authorities. He testified to what he saw in a book published several years ago.
