Joseph Kaplan (1913-1942)
Resistance activist, member and co-founder of the Jewish Combat Organization (ŻOB) and the Anti-Fascist Bloc, collaborator with Oneg Shabbat, and director of Hashomer Hatzair. Born in Kalisz, in 1926 he joined Hashomer Hatzair, a Zionist youth organization with a Scout-like character. He quickly became an instructor in the Kalisz cell and was later elected to the district leadership. Together with Tzvi Brandes, he founded a kibbutz in Żarki.
