Known as the Gaon of Warsaw, the Warsaw Gaon, or Menachem Pragier, he was one of the rabbis of the Warsaw Ghetto, an author of religious works and a scholar, and an activist in Agudos Yisroel. The Bersohn and Bauman Hospital during the Warsaw Uprising
The hospital on Sienna and Śliska Streets, the eventual home of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, served as a field hospital from the first days of August 1944. It was the second largest medical facility in the Warsaw Uprising, and its personnel participated in the fighting and saved the lives of wounded soldiers and civilians.
