Warsaw Ghetto Museum in the “ECHOES” project
In December 2025, a delegation from the Research Department of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum took part in study visits conducted within the ECHOES consortium project (Echoes of Memory: Interactive Conversations with Holocaust Survivors through AI).
The ECHOES project aims to develop an innovative AI chatbot enabling analysis of and interaction with Holocaust survivors’ testimonies, opening new perspectives for research on memory and the history of the Holocaust. The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme within the HERITAGE-ECCCH-01 grant.
- On 24–25 November 2025, staff members of the Research Department of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum visited Vilnius. During the visit, they held a series of meetings with experts from Vilnius University and the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History.
- On 12 December 2025, the delegation visited Bucharest, where it held meetings with experts from the University of Bucharest and the Center for the Study of Romanian Jewish History. Discussions focused on the project’s objectives and methodological challenges related to the analysis of Holocaust survivors’ testimonies.
- Subsequently, between 14 and 16 December 2025, the delegation stayed in Belgrade, participating in study visits and meetings with representatives of Terraforming NGO, the University of Belgrade, the Staro Sajmište Memorial Centre, the Jewish Youth Club, the Jewish Synagogue, and NGO Haver.
All meetings were substantive, contributing concrete value to the project and strengthening cooperation between the Warsaw Ghetto Museum and its Lithuanian, Romanian and Serbian partners.
