“Opening the Silence”

The film presented here is the culmination of a long-term project of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum Education Department, aimed at high schools in the area of former ghetto. The aim of this initiative was to reconstruct the place where the school is located today. For this purpose, the memories of contemporary witnesses, iconography as well as written sources – archival, scientific and journalistic or personal documents – were used. “Opening the Silence” was created in collaboration with the students and teachers of the 17th Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski High School with bilingual sections in Warsaw.

The premiere of the film is part of the program commemorating the 81st anniversary of the closure of the Warsaw Ghetto, organized jointly with the Sociocultural Society of Jews in Poland and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
