A field seminar for teachers – Kulmhof and Łódz (9–10.10.2021)

The Warsaw Ghetto Museum invites teachers and educators to a free seminar on field trips to Chełmno nad Nerem and Łódź on October 9–10, 2021.

The German extermination camp Kulmhof in Chełmno on the Ner was opened in December 1941 to carry out the immediate extermination of the Jews in Wartheland. The Germans carried out the extermination in gas chamber trucks using exhaust gasses. The bodies were buried in the Rzuchowski Forest. The bodies were also burned in the field crematoria. Jews from the surrounding ghettos and the Łódź ghetto, as well as German, Czech and Austrian Jews and also Roma from Łódź were murdered in the camp.

The seminar, which was planned for spring 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic, aims to inform people about the history of the Łódź ghetto, the Jewish community of Łódź and their extermination, as well as contemporary forms of commemorating their heritage.
