On October 23rd at 12:00 noon, the director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, Albert Stankowski, officially handed over the construction site to the General Contractor. The symbolic key to the Bersohn and Bauman Hospital was presented to Rajmund Adamietz, President of the Management Board of Adamietz sp. zoo, and Wojciech Gerber, President of the Management Board of Adamietz Warszawa.
The symbolic handover of the keys to the contractor is another important step on the way to creating the Warsaw Ghetto Museum.
"In 30 months, we will open a museum building in this building, hopefully with God's help. This museum is very much needed, especially in these times when we constantly hear words of hatred. On Saturday, we heard the words ' Cleanse the world of Jews' in Warsaw . It was very painful for us. It was terrifying for me, a descendant of a survivor. In such moments, I always think that the only thing that can change the world is education. And this museum, the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, will tell the story of the people who perished but who wanted to tell us something important. For a better, happier world, for us to live in peace," said Albert Stankowski, director of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, today.
Mr. Marian Turski , representative of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum Council, Survivor, submitted the following words to be read:
I am extremely pleased that the construction of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum has reached the next stage. We have all been waiting for this. While I am pleased with the progress of the Museum's construction, I would also like to emphasize that, echoing the Holocaust era, Hamas's attacks on Jewish settlements in Israel and the not always favorable reactions to them around the world, including the recent demonstration in Warsaw, during which slogans were raised to throw people like me into the trash bin, demonstrate that education about the Holocaust is crucial today.
