Jacek Konik: Voices of the Murdered City: A Preliminary Presentation of the Results of Archaeological Research in the Former Warsaw Ghetto in 2021-2022.

Dr. Jacek Konik's book , "Voices of the Killed City," is an excellent blend of scholarly and popularizing work. It allows the average layperson to immerse themselves in the lost world of everyday life for Warsaw's Jewish population. […] Within its pages, we find both a presentation of the research and a fascinating iconographic representation of the excavated artifacts. They depict the daily existence of Jewish Warsaw residents in selected aspects of material culture. The accompanying photographs convincingly illustrate: the non-obvious symbolism of the six-pointed star; everyday life in the apartment and kitchen, kitchenware, tableware, porcelain, earthenware, stoneware, glass, lighting, heating, glass packaging-bottles, […] book and document factories, and finally, objects related to Jewish religiosity. Written in an excellent language and accompanied by a rich scholarly framework, it encourages careful reading, providing insight into the necessity of combining archaeology with contemporary history.

"Freedom! Give us back our..." Historical Essays on the Warsaw Ghetto. Volume I.

"In 1939 I took a different path..." Historical Essays on the Warsaw Ghetto. Volume II

Edited by Martyna Grądzka-Rejak and Konrad Zieliński

The reader will find dozens of historical essays on various aspects of the functioning of the Warsaw Ghetto. Prepared by MGW staff and associates, renowned scholars specializing in the Holocaust, this collection explores the fate of the largest ghetto in occupied Europe, a "city within a city," established in the autumn of 1940 and ultimately "liquidated" in May 1943. The articles, divided into several thematic sections, cover topics such as the creation of the ghetto, the individual groups imprisoned there, the functioning of the Judenrat and its affiliated institutions, living conditions, cultural and religious life, passive and active resistance, and finally, the memory of the ghetto and traces of the former Jewish quarter embedded in the contemporary fabric of the city.

The second volume of texts consists of articles written in a popular science format about figures associated with Warsaw and the fate of Warsaw Jews and others forced by the Germans to live in a secluded district doomed to extermination. The title of the publication is taken from the poem "Telephone" by Władysław Szlengel , a poet of the Warsaw Ghetto.
